I’m seeing bunting everywhere these days, on every party blog. These days they’re made of everything from fabric to paper to chalkboards. I decided to give bunting my own twist by turning each flag into a picture frame. It’s a fun way to personalize the bunting for your party. Bunt away!

bunting party decorationI like to use scrapbook paper to make the bunting, especially cardstock scrapbook paper. Cut the 12″ x 12″ paper in half for a 6″ wide strip of paper.

bunting party decorationFold that 6″ strip in half, and then cut a triangle from it. I line the corners of the folded edge with a midpoint on the opposite edge to get a nice even triangle.

bunting party decorationPunch a hole in the middle of the triangle to make the opening of the picture frame. I use Fiskar’s Everywhere Punch.

bunting party decorationMake a border for the opening by cutting a flower or similar shape that’s bigger than the opening, and then punching a circle in that shape. I used my Sizzix Big Shot Machine to create the flower shape, and the same Fiskar’s Everywhere Punch.

bunting party decorationPunch a hole in both top corners of the back side using a regular hole punch. Slide a ribbon through the holes, and do this for all the flags in your bunting. Make sure you have about 18″ to 2′ of extra ribbon on either end so you can use it to tie the bunting around poles and such.
